September Events!

Can you believe it’s September already?! I can’t. I can’t even get over that it’s September and it’s STILL SO DAMN HOT OUT. In Colorado it is anyways. Or it’s because I’m constantly baking so it’s just actually always hot.

Anyways, this month is going to be a good one! I always love September. It’s a great month to have a birthday, to celebrate your pup’s birthday, to travel and to make more connections. I’m lucky enough to be going to Chicago over my birthday with some of my very best friends! Cubs game, Riot Fest, all the beer and all the food! I can’t wait.

Besides that, next week I’m busy getting dirty in a brewery for a change of pace. I’m brewing a cookie beer with Mockery that will be released during Great American Beer Festival at the beginning of October. It’s going to be a good one!

Wednesday, September 20th will be my monthly beer and cookie pairing at Zuni Street Brewing.

The next day is a beer and cookie pairing at Great Divide, a first at this location and I’m pumped!

Thursday, September 28th is a special end of the quarter event with my partnered nonprofit. From 5-8pm at Zuni Street Brewing a $1 of every pint goes to Minds Matter. cheersforcharity

A week off and we’re into October already with a beer and cookie pairing at Mockery (releasing the cookie beer as well) with a Great American Beer Fest beer and cookie Thursday the 5th at Zuni Street!

It’s a busy month as always, make sure you come find me at an event and say hi!

Kickstarter Kick-off Event March 22nd

Great news, everyone!! Good Sugar Baking is going to throw another super fun party. So if you missed the first one where we had live music and tried some cookies, this is your second chance!! Wednesday, March 22nd from 6pm-9pm(ish) I will be at Zuni Street Brewing with a ton of cookies for you to try.

Not only do you get to try some Good Sugar Baking cookies, but you get to try some new beers from Zuni Street Brewing! These guys have been working their butt’s off to open this brewery and it has truly paid off. The beers are incredibly tasty, the atmosphere is outstanding and it’s such a welcoming place. I’m happy to be a part of the Zuni Street team.

I will be at Zuni Street all night talking about the Kickstarter project, the cookies, what I’m planning to do with the money raised and maybe even kick some ass at cornhole. What do you guys think about having a cornhole tournament?! Hmmm…

Make sure you RSVP to the event: Kickstarter Kick-off Event

It’s Nice to Give…Always!

After just surviving the holiday season, your pockets are a little lighter and your heart is a little fuller. Or at least I hope. The holiday season was rough for me, but only because I wanted to spend ALL of my money on gifts for the people in my life. I didn’t spend ALL of my money so I don’t know whether you consider that a successful holiday season or not. Depends on who you ask, I suppose, I’m sure if you asked my dad he would say it was a successful season seeing as I still have some money in my pocket.

I didn’t spend all of my money on anything that gave back, though. That’s what makes it not as successful as I had wanted. None of it went to a charity, fundraiser or anything. Maybe that pushed me even more to start Good Sugar with a percentage of every sale going to a nonprofit.

Just because the holiday season is over doesn’t mean we should stop giving. If I had a new years resolute it would be to be more aware of how important it is to give throughout the entire year. Whether it is giving a sandwich to the person with a sign saying, “anything helps,” buying your friend lunch when they’re in a tough place, or buying some Good Sugar cookies! It’s all giving – it’s meant to make you feel good and help others.

As Good Sugar grows, I would love to help out in more than just giving a percentage of sales to nonprofits. I have always loved the idea of going to a third-world country and volunteering in some way. It’s hard to do that when you don’t have the funds to do it. If you want to get involved in nonprofits in any way, this is a great website to find something you’re passionate about: Nonprofit Directory. Do your research, people! There are so many things out there! If you started volunteering, what would you do?
